Mamani Saloon

Mamani Saloon is a small shop at 37, Adarsha Pally, right near Deshopriya Nagar. It is basically just a room with two chairs and a big mirror on the wall. I have been running this place for years. It is where most of the men from this part of Kolkata come for their monthly haircut. We do not have any of that fancy equipment or expensive soaps. We just use what is reliable and gets the job done properly. The floor is old tile and the door squeaks a bit when you open it. People don't mind though, they just come for the conversation and a quick shave. I usually have the radio playing some old songs in the background. It is not very loud. Sometimes the neighbors stop by just to say hello even if they do not need a haircut that day. We do not have a sign that glows at night, just a painted board above the door. It is a quiet life here. I try to keep the place tidy, but hair gets everywhere by the end of the day. If you are looking for a place to sit and talk about local politics while getting a trim, this is it. We do not do anything fancy, no styling or coloring really. Just a standard cut that looks neat and short. It is an honest way to make a living and I like seeing the same faces every month.
