Glamour Gross

Our shop is called Glamour Gross, and you can find us at 110 M.B.Road in the Birati section of Kolkata. Despite the name, it’s a very down-to-earth place where people from the neighborhood come to get their hair sorted out. We have been in this spot for a while now, and the building is just a standard ground-floor setup. Inside, the walls are a plain shade of cream, and we have some basic shelving for our combs and scissors. The mirrors are large enough so you can see what’s going on, and the lighting is just normal fluorescent tubes. It gets a bit loud outside with the traffic on M.B.Road, but we usually have a small radio playing some local music to drown it out. There are no fancy leather sofas here, just a couple of plastic stools for people who are waiting their turn. We try to keep the towels clean and the floor swept, though hair has a way of getting everywhere. It is a simple business in a busy part of the city, and we don't try to be anything we aren't. Most of our day is spent talking to the regulars about local news or whatever is happening in the market. It’s a comfortable routine, and we are happy to be a small part of the Birati community. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
