Dada Bhai Salon

Down in Ariadaha, you will find Dada Bhai Salon on Kedarnath Banerjee Road. It is a familiar spot for the folks living in the 700057 area. We have been cutting hair here for a long time. The shop is named Dada Bhai because that’s what everyone calls me around here anyway. It is a very humble setup. We have the usual revolving chairs and a bench for those who are waiting their turn. The walls are painted a simple color, and we have a few pictures of different hair styles pinned up, though most people just ask for the same thing every time. Kedarnath Banerjee Road is a narrow street, so you can hear the rickshaws and the chatter from the neighbors all day long. It’s a very friendly atmosphere. People don't just come here for a shave; they come to escape the sun for a bit and have a chat. I keep the scissors sharpened and the towels washed. It’s a routine that hasn't changed much over the years. We don't use any fancy products, just the standard soaps and creams you find in any local shop. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes, we just open the door wide and keep working by the natural light. It is just a neighborhood salon where everyone knows your name and you don't have to explain much.
