Asim Gents Parlour

Badra area, specifically Sukanta Sarani in Italgacha. Asim Gents Parlour is a small spot for the local men. It is located on a street that sees a lot of foot traffic. Inside, we have the basic things you would expect: some older chairs that have seen better days but are still comfortable, and a long mirror that stretches across the wall. We have some posters of different haircuts on the wall, though most people just ask for the same thing every time. The floor is concrete and we sweep it out multiple times a day. We keep a spray bottle of water and a few different types of combs on the ledge. It’s a place where you can hear the latest neighborhood gossip while getting a shave. The tea stall next door is where we get our breakfast. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the evenings when everyone gets off work. People stand around outside the door waiting for a chair to open up. We don't have a fancy waiting area, just a wooden bench. It is a straightforward place where we work hard and talk to our neighbors. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving. It’s just a normal gents' parlor in a busy part of Kolkata. We try to keep the scissors sharp and the razors fresh for every person who walks in.
