Vedanta Resources

We are located at the Smelter Plant site in Burkhamunda, which is part of Jharsuguda in Orissa. Being at the Cast House means it's often quite loud and very warm. This is where a lot of the heavy work for Vedanta Resources happens. It isn't a typical office job where you sit in silence all day. There is always the sound of machinery and people moving things around. The air smells like metal and hard work. We spend a lot of time on our feet here. It's a big plant, and sometimes it feels like it never stops. Jharsuguda can be a tough place to work because of the climate, but we have a solid crew who has been doing this for years. We aren't here to impress anyone with fancy lobby furniture. The floors are concrete and the walls show the age of the facility. It's a real working environment. Most of the guys here live in the nearby areas and we share rides or see each other at the local tea stalls. We don't spend much time on long meetings; we just get to it. Sometimes things break and we have to fix them on the fly. The sounds of the smelter are something you get used to after a week or two. If you're new, the heat can be a bit overwhelming at first. We don't wear suits or ties because it doesn't make sense. It’s a gritty place but it’s where the actual work gets done.
