Down in Meer Ganj, specifically in the Nagariya Kalyan area of Bareilly, we have a long history of farming. Raja Sahab Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited was put together by Bhupendra Singh and a group of us who live and work around here. We aren't a big corporation with offices in the city. Our office is where the tractors are. We started this because we saw that by ourselves, we didn't have much of a voice when it came to buying inputs or selling our grains. Now that we are a company, we can do things a bit differently. We spend a lot of time talking about the soil in Bareilly and what seeds are working best this year. It is a very practical kind of life. We deal with the heat, the rain, and the bugs every single day. Some years are better than others, that’s just the way it goes. We don't promise anything special other than that we are working hard to make sure the farmers in our little corner of the world get what they deserve. It’s about looking out for your neighbor and making sure the community stays strong. We are just local folks trying to keep the farming tradition alive in Nagariya Kalyan without going broke in the process.
