About Paragon Refractory – Metals & Minerals in Bardhaman
Bidhannagar isn’t a bad place to be, especially over by the Abl post office area. We’ve been running Paragon Refractory here in Paschim Burdwan for quite some time now. Refractory work is mostly about dealing with high heat and the materials that can actually stand up to it. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and measuring. Our workshop isn't the prettiest place, but it works for us. There are piles of materials scattered around the yard, and the floor is usually covered in a fine grey dust that never quite goes away. We wear old clothes because everything gets ruined pretty quickly anyway. The guys usually take their lunch under the shade of the big tree out back. It gets really humid in this part of Burdwan during the summer months. We just drink a lot of water and keep the fans going in the office when we're doing the paperwork. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We just answer the phone when it rings and see what needs to be made. Most of our neighbors are also doing industrial stuff, so nobody complains about the noise or the trucks. We just stay focused on the kilns and the mixing. It’s a technical job but feels very physical at the same time. You learn a lot about how things melt and how they don't. We just take it one order at a time and try to stay organized, even if the desk is always buried under papers and old folders.
