Silicon Granites

We are based out in the second phase of the Jigani Industrial Area. The plot number is 98 V. It’s quite a way out in Anekal Taluk, so it’s quieter than the city but still busy with all the factories. We have a fair amount of space here for the granite. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot. We have the usual machines for cutting and polishing. It’s a lot of manual labor and standing around in the yard. The ground is always covered in that fine grey dust you get with stone work. We wear boots and old clothes because there’s no point in trying to stay clean. We aren’t interested in being a polished corporate office. We have a small cabin where we sit and talk to customers or handle the bills. Mostly we are outside checking the slabs. The trucks come in through the main gates of the industrial area and find us easily enough. We’ve been in this particular spot for quite a few years. You get to know the neighbors, mostly other guys in the stone or manufacturing business. Sometimes we share tools or help each other out. It’s a hardworking environment. We just focus on getting the slabs ready and sent out to the construction sites. It’s what we know how to do. The machines can be loud, but that is just the sound of work being done.
