We spend most of our time out here in Jigani Industrial Area at Block 21. If you know the 2nd Phase on 100 Feet Road, that is exactly where our gate is located. It gets pretty loud with all the machinery around us, but that is just how it is in this part of town. Most mornings start with checking the new slabs that came in overnight. Gommateshwara Granites has been in this spot for a while now. We have stacks of granite leaning against the walls and sometimes it feels like the stone takes over the whole yard. There is usually a layer of dust on everything, even the chairs in the small office. My boots are always grey by the end of the shift. We mostly just focus on getting the orders loaded onto the trucks without any chips or cracks. It is heavy work. Sometimes the weather makes it tough when the rain hits the yard and everything gets slippery. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. People just come by, look at the blocks, and tell us what they need for their floors or counters. It is a lot of lifting and moving things around with the crane. The tea stall down the road is where we usually take a break when the sun gets too hot. It isn't a glamorous job but the stone is solid and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We just keep our heads down and handle the granite.
