We’ve been at this spot on Laxmi Main Road for a long time now. Shantinagar has changed quite a bit since we started, but our yard still looks pretty much the same. Most days it’s just us moving heavy slabs around and making sure the trucks get loaded correctly. It’s heavy work and my back feels it by five o'clock. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. People just walk into the warehouse and look at what’s in stock. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, especially when the wind blows down the main road. We keep a small office in the corner where we do the paperwork and drink tea. It’s mostly just granite here. We get a lot of local builders coming in who know what they want and don't need a whole lot of help. My son helps out with the ledger sometimes when he’s not busy. We don't spend money on big signs or ads because most people find us just by driving past or hearing from a neighbor. It’s a straightforward business. We wake up, open the gates, move some stone, and go home. The guys in the back have been with me for years, so they know the routine. We don't promise anything fast, just that the stone is there if you need it. If it rains, things slow down because the ground gets muddy near the entrance.
