Granalite

Being located in Seshadripuram at Sripuram means we are right in the thick of things. Our place, Granalite, is tucked away at number 6, Ranganayaki, on the 1st Cross of 1st Main. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you aren't used to the local streets, but most people find us eventually. We handle a lot of stone work for the houses around here. It's not a huge operation, just a handful of us working with the slabs and making sure everything is cut right. The stone business is pretty basic when you get down to it. You get the raw material, you show it to the customers, and you hope they like the grain and the color. We don't spend money on big ads or anything like that. Most of our work comes from people walking in or neighbors telling their friends about us. The workshop gets loud sometimes with the cutting, and there is always a bit of slurry on the floor, but that is just part of the job. We keep a variety of pieces in stock because everyone wants something different for their home. Dealing with stone is physical. You're lifting and shifting heavy weight all day long. We just try to do an honest day's work and keep the yard organized enough so we can find what we're looking for when a customer asks. It’s a quiet life mostly, just focusing on the stone and the people who come through the door.
