Our place, Delft Natural Stones Private Limited, is tucked away in JP Nagar. To find us, you have to navigate through R.K. Colony to the 6th Cross in the 2nd Phase. Number 100 is where we keep all the slabs and blocks. It’s a residential-feeling area that has slowly changed over the years. We have heavy pieces of stone sitting around the yard. It gets loud when the cutters are going. Most of the people working here have been with us for a long time. We know the stone, how it breaks, and how it looks once it's cleaned up. We don't have a glossy brochure or anything like that. People just walk in, look at what we have in the yard, and tell us what they need. Some days the rain makes the stone look completely different, which is always interesting to see. We spend a lot of time moving things around with the crane. It’s heavy work and it keeps everyone tired by the end of the shift. The neighbors are mostly used to the noise by now. We try to start early before the heat gets too bad. JP Nagar is a busy part of town, but our little corner stays relatively focused on the work at hand. We handle the deliveries ourselves most of the time. It is just a regular shop where we deal with what the earth gives us and try to get it to the people who want it.
