Maniratnam Sewapuri Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are over in Matuka village, in the Sewapuri area. We work out of Subesh Kumar Verma’s house. Most of us involved here are just regular farmers from the neighborhood. We grew up seeing our parents struggle with the markets, so we decided to start this Maniratnam Sewapuri company to see if we could do things a bit differently. We aren't corporate people and we don't have any special training. Everything we know comes from the dirt and the seasons. We deal with the local crops, mainly what grows best in this part of Sewapuri. The office is really just a place where we keep our ledgers and some samples of what we’re growing. It’s a very informal setup. Neighbors drop by to talk about the latest government rules or to see if we’ve found a buyer for the next harvest. It’s a lot of talking and a lot of waiting for the right time to sell. We don’t have a marketing team or anything like that. We just rely on each other. Some days are good, especially when the weather is right, and some days we just have to figure out how to fix a broken pump or deal with a bad batch of seeds. It’s just the reality of farming life in Matuka. We’re just trying to keep the community going and ensure the hard work we do in Sewapuri pays off.
