Csc Hulhula Khurd Kisan Producer Company Limited is run by a group of us here in Mahdeiya. If you are looking for the heart of the operation, you would go to Umar Ansari’s place, he is the son of Akbar Ansari. We are located right in Hulhula Khurd. It’s a small place and everyone knows everyone else. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, following what our fathers did. We decided to set up this kisan producer company because we saw that we needed to be more organized to get things done. It is a way for us to pool our resources and talk about our farming problems together. We deal with all sorts of local crops and we try to help each other with things like seeds or getting the tractors ready. It is not a very formal thing in terms of how we talk or act. We meet up at Umar's house and sit around to discuss the plans for the next season. Being in a small village like Hulhula Khurd means we have to look out for one another. We don't have big budgets for advertising or anything like that. We just focus on the soil and the crops we grow every year. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until night. We are just a bunch of farmers trying to make a living and keep the village economy moving.
