Kundariya Sukhram Singh Farmer Producer Company Limited is a small group of us farmers located in Kundariya Ikhlaspuraonla. Sukhram Singh is the one who keeps the books and coordinates things from his house. We are all just local people who have been working the soil around here for years. We realized that if we joined up, we might have a better chance of making a decent living. It’s tough when you are just one person trying to negotiate with big buyers or find good seeds at a price you can actually afford. We don't have any marketing people or anyone to write fancy speeches for us. We just talk like we always have, about the weather and the dirt and the bugs. The village is a quiet place and we like it that way. We spend most of our time out in the fields from early morning until the sun goes down. When we get together, it’s usually to figure out how to share a piece of equipment or to plan out the next planting cycle. We aren't trying to do anything amazing. We just want to make sure our farms stay in the family and that we don't go broke doing the work we love. It’s a simple arrangement based on trust and being neighbors. We take it one day at a time and see how it goes.
