Mandaf Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Shankarpur Mandaf Kodari, which is in the Basti district. Ajay Kumar Tripathi is the person who handles the paperwork from his house. We are just a group of local farmers who decided to join forces. In Basti, almost everyone knows what it’s like to work in the fields. It’s a hard way to make a living and sometimes it feels like you're doing it all alone. We started this company so we could have a bit of a support system. We don't have any fancy marketing or big offices. Our meetings often happen in a village courtyard where we talk about what we need for the season. Farming in Uttar Pradesh is always a gamble with the weather. When the rains are good, we do okay, but when they aren't, it’s a struggle. We try to help each other out by sharing information and pooling our resources for things we all need. We are not a big organization with lots of money. We are just neighbors who have small plots of land and want to make sure we get a fair shake. There is no corporate polish here, just dirt on our hands and a lot of talk about crops. We are just regular people from Shankarpur Mandaf trying to do the best we can with what we have and looking out for one another.
