Our group, Bhagwan Budh Kisan Utpadak Sangathan Producer Company Limited, is located at 1 Kakandhu in Sonwa. We are basically a group of farmers who decided to team up. Being a producer company means we handle everything from the initial planting to the final sale together. It’s been a bit of a learning curve for all of us. Before this, we were all just doing our own thing. Now we have to coordinate and make decisions as a group, which can be slow sometimes. The office at Kakandhu is where we meet to discuss the prices and which crops we should focus on next. It’s a modest place, but it serves us well. We talk a lot about the weather, as any farmer does, and how it’s going to affect our yields. There are days when we disagree on things, but we always figure it out in the end. We just want to make sure that everyone involved gets a fair deal. It’s hard work being out in the sun all day and then coming back to handle the business side of things. But we feel it’s better than being on our own. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just rely on word of mouth and how good our crops turn out. It’s a simple life, focused on the ground and the seasons. That’s really all there is to it. We just hope for rain and fair market prices so we can keep going next year.
