Vijaya Mahantha Navodhaya School

If you go through Sai Nagar in Badami, you’ll find us easily enough. Our school has been part of this Bagalkot neighborhood for quite some time now. It’s a dusty area, especially when the wind picks up near the rocks, so we are always dusting off the desks and sweeping out the rooms. The kids arrive early on their cycles or walking from nearby houses. We don’t have any massive gates or anything, just a regular entrance where the students line up for the morning assembly. The building itself is simple, but it serves its purpose for the local community. Inside, you can hear the teachers going through the lessons, and sometimes it gets a bit noisy when the lunch bell rings. We have a small yard where the students play during their free time, though it’s mostly just dirt and some stones. Most of the families around here are hard-working people, and their kids are the same. We don’t use any big words or have corporate meetings; we just focus on getting through the syllabus every year. There’s always some repair work going on, maybe a leaky tap or a door that won't shut right, but we manage. It’s a humble place in a historic town, and we just try to keep things running smoothly for the children. Most days are predictable, which is actually quite nice. We close up when the sun starts to go down and get ready to do it all over again tomorrow morning.
