Gururaj Vidyalaya

This school is in Jamkhandi, which is part of the Bagalkot district. It’s an older town with a lot of history, and the school has its own place in the community here. The building is located on a regular street and has a traditional look to it. We have several rooms that open out into a central courtyard. It’s a good spot for the children to gather when they aren't in class. The benches in the classrooms are made of heavy wood and have been around for a long time. You can see the names of past students carved into some of them. We have a small library with some old books that the kids like to look through. The teachers here mostly speak the local language but we teach all the regular subjects required. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the building, so it gets a bit warm inside. We have big ceiling fans that help a little bit. The parents in Jamkhandi are very involved and often stop by to talk to the teachers about how their children are doing. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people usually just come to the gate if they have questions. It’s a very standard school for this part of Karnataka. We just try to keep things running smoothly and make sure the kids are doing their lessons properly every day. It’s a familiar place for everyone in the neighborhood.
