Sr Kanthi College Of Education

In Ilkal, everyone knows where the Sr Kanthi College Of Education is. We are located right here in Bagalkot district, and it’s a quiet enough spot for people who are learning how to become teachers. The building has been here for a while, and it has a very simple look to it. We don't spend much on fancy signs or anything like that. Instead, we just focus on the daily routine of classes and library time. Most of our students come from the nearby villages in Karnataka, so there is a lot of Kannada spoken in the hallways. The rooms are basic with chalkboards and rows of benches. During the summer, it gets quite hot here in Ilkal, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze we can. You can hear the sounds of the town from the classrooms, but it's not too distracting. The staff here are mostly local people who have been with the college for many years. We know each other well and we know the families of the students too. It’s a very grounded place. We don’t go for big speeches or anything. It’s just about getting the work done so these young people can go out and teach in schools. There’s always someone around to help if a student is struggling with their notes or needs to find a specific book in our small collection. It’s just a regular part of our community.
