Jk Cement Ltd. is situated right in Muddapur Village, which is part of Mudhol. Being at number 125, we are a big part of what happens around here. The village is quiet, but our site is usually buzzing with activity. We have a lot of trucks coming in and out, which can get a bit hectic during the middle of the day. The workers here mostly come from the surrounding areas, so there is a lot of local talk during the lunch breaks. We don't really have a corporate vibe even though the name might sound like it. It feels more like a large workshop where everyone knows their role. The dust is a constant companion, settling on the desks and the machinery no matter how much we clean. We’ve got some trees planted near the entrance to try and catch some of it, but they always look a bit grey. The sun hits the metal roofs in the afternoon and it gets quite hot inside, so we keep the fans going at full speed. We don't do much in the way of fancy presentations. If someone wants to know about the cement, we just show them the bags and tell them how it works. It’s basic and it works for the people in Muddapur. We’ve been here long enough that the sounds of the plant are just part of the background of the village.
