Dr. Bheemrao Ambedkar Memorial Inter College

Dr. Bheemrao Ambedkar Memorial Inter College is located in Hafizpur, which is a part of Azamgarh. It is a standard inter college where we handle the higher secondary classes. The building itself is a bit old and has that look of a place that has seen a lot of students pass through its doors. We have high ceilings in the rooms which helps a little when the sun is beating down on the roof. Most of the kids come from the villages nearby, often traveling a good distance on their bicycles. You can see the cycles lined up outside every morning. We don't have a lot of modern equipment here. It is mostly just blackboards and old-fashioned wooden chairs for the teachers. The office is full of stacks of paper and old files that go back years. We spend our time trying to get the students ready for their board exams because that is what matters most to their families. The ground outside gets very dusty in the dry season, and we all end up with a bit of dirt on our shoes by the end of the day. There is a small shop nearby where everyone gets their snacks. We are just a local institution doing our job day in and day out. We don't try to be anything we are not. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for when the bell rings and everyone rushes out to go home.
