Universal High School

Located on Plot No T1 in the Chikalthana Industrial Area of Aurangabad, our school sits in a pretty busy part of the region. It's a large plot, so we have a fair amount of space, but being in an industrial zone means the surroundings are quite practical and straightforward. We open up the gates early every day. The students arrive by bus or their parents drop them off before heading to work themselves. We have the standard classrooms and a place for the kids to run around during their breaks. Life here is mostly about the books and the daily lessons. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles or expensive decor. The teachers walk from room to room with their registers. Sometimes the weather in Maharashtra gets really dry and dusty, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the floors and making sure there's enough drinking water for everyone. The staff stays late some evenings to finish up the grading or to get the schedules ready for the next week. It’s definitely not a quiet place during the day, you can hear the kids from the street quite clearly. We’ve got the usual subjects like math and science. The desks are lined up in rows and the boards get wiped down every evening. We don't try to be anything we're not. It’s just a school in a working part of town. We keep things moving and make sure the kids are doing their work before the final bell rings.
