Sail-Isp

Living out here in Burnpur, you quickly get used to the pace of industrial life. Sail-Isp is a major presence in this corner of the Burdwan district. Almost every family around here has a story about someone who worked at the plant. It’s a massive place with a lot of local history tied to the ground it sits on. You can see the structures and the smoke from quite a distance away. Once you’re inside, there is a lot of walking involved and the noise is constant. The heat coming off the furnaces is something you never really get used to, but you learn how to handle it. We have our daily routines and we try our best to stick to them. Most of the work is about the iron and the steel and getting through the long shifts. The people here are known for being hard workers who don’t care much for fancy talk about goals or visions. They just want to do the work they were given for the day. The whole town feels like it’s connected to what happens at the plant. When the shifts change, the streets fill up with people on cycles and bikes. It might be an older way of living, but it’s steady and keeps everyone busy. We follow methods that were passed down by the workers who came before us. It isn't a polished corporate life, just boots and dirty hands. That’s the truth of it.
