Maithan Alloys Ltd.

Our place is in Kalyaneshwari, which is in the District of Bardhaman. It is a bit of a trek to get out here, but it is where we do our work. Maithan Alloys Ltd. has a fairly large footprint in this area. It isn't a city office with glass walls; it is a real working site. The ground is often red with dust, and there are trucks coming in and out at all hours. We have a lot of people working here, mostly locals from the Bardhaman district. The canteen is where most of us catch up during the day. It’s a basic place with long tables and simple food. We don't really have time for polished corporate talk. There are machines to look after and materials to monitor. The weather can be quite harsh in this part of West Bengal, very hot or very rainy, so we just deal with it as it comes. We’ve been part of the Kalyaneshwari landscape for quite a while now. People know the name because they see the site from the road. We just try to keep things running smoothly without making too much of a fuss. It is a big operation, but we try to keep a local feel to how we talk and work together. Sometimes the roads get muddy after a big storm, but we just keep pushing through the day. That is just the way we do things out here in the district.
