Duary Hardware

If you come down to Subhaspally in Burnpur, you’ll find Duary Hardware tucked away in the district of Burdwan. It’s a typical hardware shop, which means it’s pretty much overflowing with everything from tiny screws to heavy tools. We try to keep things organized, but when you have thousands of small items, something is always going to be slightly out of place. The shelves are high and go all the way to the ceiling, so we’re always climbing up and down ladders. It’s a bit dusty, and the air smells like oil and metal, which is how a hardware store should be. We don’t have a big marketing budget or any of that corporate stuff. We just know where most things are kept and try to help people find what they’re looking for. Sometimes someone comes in with a broken part and we spend twenty minutes looking through bins to find a match. That’s just how it goes here. The floor is old concrete and the front door squeaks a bit when you open it. We don't really mind the imperfections. It’s a local spot where people from the neighborhood drop in to chat while they buy what they need. We just keep the shop open and make sure we have the basics in stock. It’s a simple life behind the counter, but it keeps us busy.
