Chandan Mondal

I run this business out of Rupnarayanpur. It’s near Achara, in the Salanpur area. It’s a quiet part of Burdwan district, mostly fields and small houses. I don't have a big company name, just my own name, Chandan Mondal. I’ve lived here my whole life and people know me from the market. I started this because I wanted to work for myself instead of going into the city for a job. My setup is very basic. It’s just a small room with the equipment I need and some storage space. I do most of the work myself, from sourcing the items to packing them up. Sometimes my family helps out when there's a big order to get through, but usually it's just me. The Salanpur weather can be tough, especially in the summer when the heat makes the work feel twice as hard. I don't have any fancy brochures or a sales team to help. I just talk to people I know and show them what I’ve got. It’s a slow process building things up this way, but it feels right to do it myself. I spend a lot of time on my old scooter, delivering orders around the village and to the next town over. It’s not a glamorous life, but I like being my own boss. There’s a certain peace in working in a place like Rupnarayanpur and seeing the familiar faces every day.
