N. L. Kapoor Silk Mills

N. L. Kapoor Silk Mills is tucked away at Shop Number 228/11. We are on Street Tiwarial, right in the Katra Ahluwalia area. Being inside Lohgarh Gate means we are in a very old part of the city. The streets are quite narrow and there is a lot of history in the walls around us. We are also near the Shiv Mandir, so it’s a very busy spot with people coming for prayers and shopping. Our shop is full of silk. You can feel the different weights and see the shine on the threads when the light hits them. We have been part of this market for a long time. It gets very crowded outside with rickshaws and people walking, but inside it’s all about the fabric. We spend our time checking the quality of the silk and making sure the shop stays in order. It is a lot of manual work, lifting heavy rolls and organizing the shelves. The air smells a bit like old stone and fabric. We have a lot of regular people who know exactly where to find us in this maze of streets. Sometimes it is hard to navigate the area if you aren't used to it, but we like being right here in the heart of things. Working with silk takes a lot of patience. We just focus on the daily tasks and keep the mill running as best as we can without any unnecessary fuss.
