Guru Nanak Marble

Our place, Guru Nanak Marble, sits right on the GT Road in Daburji. If you are driving past the Police Line or the filling station, you will see our yard full of stone slabs. It is a noisy spot because of all the trucks and buses flying by on the main road all day long. Being opposite the Police Line makes it easy for people to find us when they are coming from the city side. We have been working out of this location for some time and the routine is always the same. We open the gates early, move some of the heavy stock around to make space, and wait for the sun to get high. The filling station across the way is a good landmark for people who get lost trying to find us. Dealing with marble and granite is a messy job and our clothes are usually covered in white powder by noon. We don't really have a big office or anything polished like that. We mostly just sit on the plastic chairs outside and talk to whoever comes in. It is honest work and we have gotten used to the heat and the constant sound of traffic. Sometimes the dust from the road settles on the marble so we have to keep washing it down so people can see the real color of the stone. It is just how things go here on the highway.
