Gill Cement Store is on Patti Road in Sarhali Khurd. If you know where the Indian Oil Petrol Pump is, we are right there. It’s a busy spot most mornings because of the trucks coming in. I spend a lot of time just moving bags around and checking the inventory. The store isn't fancy or anything. It’s just a place where we keep the cement dry and ready for whoever needs it for their house or a small repair. My clothes are usually covered in grey dust by noon. That’s just part of the job here. Sarhali Khurd is a small place but there’s always someone building something. Sometimes the weather makes it hard when it rains because we have to cover everything up fast. I’ve lived around here for a long time so I know most of the people who stop by. We don't have a big office or anything, just a desk and some chairs where we sit and talk about the prices or the news. It gets loud with the traffic from the main road but you get used to it after a week. Most days it’s just me and maybe one or two guys helping with the heavy lifting. We open up early because that’s when the builders like to get their stuff. By the time the sun goes down, I’m usually pretty tired and ready to go home. It’s a simple life running a store like this on Patti Road.
