Deepak Textiles

Deepak Textiles is located right outside the Lahori Gate. If you know the area, you know how loud and busy it is. There are people everywhere, cycles, and rickshaws pushing through the crowds. We are right in the thick of it. The shop is full of fabric rolls, stacked up high against the walls. It smells like cotton and dye in here. We spend our days measuring out cloth and talking to customers who come in looking for something specific. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting those heavy rolls and moving them around to find the right color or pattern. The Lahori Gate area has so much history, and we feel like a small part of that. We don't have any fancy displays or air conditioning. We just have the ceiling fans spinning fast and the doors wide open to the street. Sometimes it’s so noisy we have to shout to hear each other, but that’s just the way it is in the market. We have regular customers who have been coming to us for years. They know we’re always here. We don't spend money on ads or anything like that. The work speaks for itself, and people find us. It’s a long day, from the time the market opens until the shutters go down at night, but we like the energy. We just keep the fabric rolls neat.
