Down at 520, East Mohan Nagar, you will find our small workshop. Dalip Machine Tools is mostly a family affair. The building itself has seen better days and the paint is starting to flake off near the bottom of the walls, but the inside stays busy. We have several rows of steel cabinets that are filled with all sorts of parts and tools for machinery. My father started this business a long time ago, and I took it over once I was done with school. It is not a huge operation by any means. We have a couple of workbenches where we check the tools over before anyone takes them away. Sometimes the old coffee machine in the back breaks down and that feels like a bigger problem than a late delivery. We do not bother with any high-tech computer systems for our stock; we just use a thick ledger book and a pen. It has worked for us for years, so we see no reason to change it. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops or residential houses, so we try to keep the noise down in the early morning. People usually find us through word of mouth rather than any kind of advertisement. It is a quiet way to make a living. We open up the shutters early and head home once the sun goes down. We are just regular people selling tools to those who need them.
