Batra Embroideries

Down in Lane No. 4 in Putlighar, you’ll find our little place, Batra Embroideries. We have been at number 35 for quite some time now. It is a bit of a tight squeeze in this lane, especially when deliveries are coming in or out. The sound of the embroidery machines is basically the background music for everyone who works here. We spend most of our time looking at threads and patterns on screens or fabric. It is a lot of sitting and watching the needles move fast. Sometimes the thread snaps or a machine jams, and we have to spend an hour just getting it right again. It’s not a glamorous job, but there is something nice about seeing a plain piece of cloth get filled up with colors. The neighbors know us well because we’ve been here so long. We don't really do big ads or anything. Most people just walk in because they heard about us from someone else in Putlighar. The shop gets a bit messy with scraps of fabric and empty spools everywhere, but that’s just how it goes when you’re busy. We try to keep things moving even when it gets hot in the summer months. It’s just a normal local business trying to keep up with the orders that come our way from the market. We don't have fancy titles, just people who know how to work the machines.
