Jalila Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Charanki village. It’s a small place in the Ranpur area, and most people here are connected to the land in one way or another. We aren't some big corporation from the city with fancy suits. We are just local folks who decided to band together to make things work. Our office is right in the village, so it’s easy for the farmers to walk over after they’re done in the fields. We talk about seeds, weather, and how to get a better price for what we grow. It’s not always easy work, and sometimes the meetings go on forever because everyone has a different opinion on how to do things. But that’s how a producer company should be, anyway. We don't have fancy furniture or air conditioning. We just have a room with some old chairs and a table where we keep our records. Charanki is a quiet spot, and we like it that way. We know everyone’s name and whose farm is located where. When the harvest comes, everyone is busy, so the office gets a bit neglected while we’re out helping in the dirt. We started this because we wanted to have more of a say in how our crops are sold. It’s a slow process, learning the business side of things, but we are slowly getting there. It feels good to do something for the village.
