Chhajed Mango Garden

Down in the village of Amethi, that’s where you’ll find Chhajed Mango Garden. It’s a quiet place compared to the cities, filled with the sound of wind in the leaves and the occasional bird. We spend most of our time out among the trees, checking on the growth and seeing how the fruit is coming along. It’s a seasonal kind of life. Some months are very quiet, just tending to the soil and the branches, while other months are incredibly busy when the mangoes are ready. We don’t have an office in the traditional sense; our work is mostly outdoors in the dirt and the sun. The weather is a big part of our daily conversation. If it’s too hot or if the rain doesn't come, we have to adjust. People from the village often help us out when the harvest time arrives. It’s a lot of physical labor, picking and sorting the fruit by hand. We don't use big machines for everything; we prefer to keep things simple. The garden has been around for a while, and the trees have grown quite tall over the years. We take pride in the way the orchard looks, even if it’s just a regular farm to anyone else. Living and working in Amethi is peaceful, and we wouldn't have it any other way. It’s a lot of work, but seeing the trees full of fruit makes it feel worth the effort.
