In the village of Kanak Singh Pur, Rohit Singh started up Amethi Jaivik Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are located right in the heart of the Amethi district. The word Jaivik in our name means organic, and that is what we are interested in. We wanted to find a better way to farm without using all those heavy chemicals that everyone uses these days. Rohit is usually the one you will see if you come by the village looking for us. It’s a very local thing, mostly just people from Kanak Singh Pur and the spots nearby. We don't have a big budget for office furniture or flashy signs. Most of our time is spent out in the fields or talking to other growers about how to keep the soil healthy. It’s not always easy to do things the organic way, but we think it’s the right path for our land in the long run. People around here know us as a small group of farmers trying to make a living. We don't use corporate talk or try to sell anyone on big promises. We just work the land and try to get the produce to people who want it. We aren't interested in becoming some huge company that forgets where it came from; we just want to keep farming in Amethi.
