The Hi-Tech Gears Limited

Our shop is at A-589 inside the Industrial Complex. It’s one of those places that’s easy to get lost in because all the blocks look the same after a while. You have to watch out for the forklifts and the delivery trucks that are always backing up into the narrow lanes. The building itself is mostly just a big open space for the gear cutting and the metal work. It’s noisy, really noisy, so we usually have to shout a bit to be heard over the hum of the lathes. The floor is always a bit oily, no matter how much we sweep it. We have a small office tucked away in the front where we keep the records and the computer. It’s a bit quieter in there, but you still feel the vibration from the shop floor. Most of us are covered in a bit of grease by the time the shift ends. There isn’t much in the way of decoration, just some calendars on the wall and a few tool racks. We take our tea breaks outside by the main gate just to get some fresh air and watch the other workers in the complex. It’s a tough environment but there’s a sense of pride in seeing the finished parts stacked up and ready to go out. We don’t do things for show here. It’s all about the metal and making sure the dimensions are right before anything leaves.
