S Y Slate Stone

We are based out in Vpo- Mehtawas, which is right near the old Neemrana Fort. S Y Slate Stone is a small operation compared to the big giants in the industry, but we stay busy enough with the work we have. Slate is a specific kind of business and it is quite different from dealing with granite or marble. We spend a lot of time at the site near the fort. The air is a bit clearer out here than in the big cities, but there is still plenty of dust from the stone cutting. People know us in the village and the surrounding area because we have been here for a while. We do not have a big website or a dedicated sales team. Usually, people just hear about us and come by to see what slate we have available for their roofs or floors. It involves a lot of manual sorting because you have to look at each piece to see if it is good enough to sell. Our days are pretty repetitive. We wake up, check the stock, talk to the laborers, and try to get the orders filled for the trucks. Sometimes we sit outside the office and have tea while waiting for a delivery to arrive. It is a quiet life in some ways, but the stone work is heavy and keeps us tired. We just do what we do every day and make sure the slate is cut right.
