St Ram Das School

You can find St Ram Das School in the Ram Nagar area of Ajmer. It is a regular neighborhood school that has been around for a good while. The building sits on a normal street, and you can hear the bells from the houses nearby. We have students coming from all over this part of the city. The school day starts early with the kids lining up for their morning prayers. It’s a bit of a scramble sometimes to get everyone in order. Our classrooms are standard sizes, filled with the usual desks and cabinets full of old files and books. The walls have some charts and drawings made by the students, which adds a bit of color. Teachers here are quite practical. They spend their time going through the syllabus and making sure the homework is done. We have a small playground, but it’s mostly used for physical education classes and lunch breaks. The kids play marbles or just sit and talk. When it gets really hot in Ajmer, we make sure the fans are working, though they make a lot of noise. We don't have a big auditorium or a swimming pool. It’s just a place for learning. The parents here are mostly working-class people who want their kids to do well. We talk to them at the gate or during the small meetings we have. It’s an unpretentious school where we just take one day at a time. Every year, we see a new batch of faces and say goodbye to the old ones.
