Down in Sarana, which is a bit of a trek from the main part of Ajmer, we’ve got Sarwar Balaji Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s based at Vijay Lal Prajapti’s place. We are just a bunch of guys from the Sarwar and Nasirabad area who realized that we are stronger if we work as one. The farming around here is a way of life, not just a job. We don't have a big marketing budget or some fancy website. We just have our land and our local reputation. Most days involve a lot of driving back and forth between the fields and our little storage spot. We talk about the price of diesel and why the rain is late again. It’s simple, honest talk. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words. We’re just trying to get a fair deal for our harvest. Rajasthan is a tough place for a farmer, especially when the dry season hits hard. But we’ve been here a long time and we know how to handle it. We take things one day at a time. The office stuff is mostly just keeping track of who contributed what. We’re just local people looking out for other local people in the Ajmer district. It’s not fancy, but it works for us. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done.
