Chhariya Farmers Producer Companylimited is based right in the heart of Village Chhara. If you look for the Ram Khund Radha Krishan Mandir, we are just near there at house number 17. It’s a local operation through and through. We know every person who walks through our door because they are our neighbors. We started this to help the farmers in our village get organized. There’s a lot of work that goes into a harvest that people don't see. We spend our time figuring out who needs what supplies and where we can sell the produce so nobody gets shorted. It’s not a polished business. Our records are mostly in big physical ledgers and some on an old computer that acts up when it gets too hot. People stop by after visiting the mandir to chat about the crops or the local news. We don't have a marketing budget or any big slogans. We just work together as a group to make things a little bit easier for everyone in Chhara. Some days are slow and we just sit around and drink chai, and other days it’s total chaos when the harvest comes in all at once. We take it as it comes. We aren't trying to be the biggest company, we just want to be a solid one for the people living right here. It is just a simple way of doing business.
