Milan Engineering Works

Our shop, Milan Engineering Works, is located on Sukdha Road. If you know where the Mahndara Hotel is, we’re right near there in Madan Ganj. It’s a very busy part of the area. There are always people, cows, and bikes moving around the entrance. We do engineering work, mostly fixing things for the marble industry that surrounds the town. The shop isn't very big, so we end up doing a lot of the heavy work out on the pavement. People have to walk around us while we are working on a piece of metal. It’s a bit chaotic but that’s just how it goes here every day. The noise from the road is constant and loud. You have to shout sometimes just to be heard over the passing trucks. We have some old machines inside that do the heavy lifting for us. We've had them for years and they're very reliable even if they look a bit rough. The walls are covered in calendars from old years and some tools hanging on rusty nails. We don't really bother with decorating or painting the place. It’s a place for work, not for looking pretty for visitors. We get tea from the stall across the road. They make it extra sweet which we like. Sometimes we have a long line of people waiting for their jobs to be finished. We just go one by one until we are done.
