Up here in Kali Dungari, things feel a bit different. It feels a little more like the edge of town than the middle. Our workshop for Nikhar Engineerings is at number 16. It’s a simple setup we've had for a while. We do engineering work for the local folks and the small businesses around Kishangarh. The air is a bit clearer up here but there's still plenty of dust from the grinding work we do. We usually start the day by cleaning off the machines with a rag. They get covered in fine dust overnight. My brother and I run the place ourselves. We don’t have many employees, just a couple of local boys who are learning how to use the machines. They're good kids but they talk a lot while they work. We spend most of our time at the main workbench. It’s heavy work and you have to be careful with your fingers around the blades. We see a lot of people coming in with broken tractor parts or pieces from the stone mines. We fix what we can. Sometimes we have to tell them it's beyond repair and they need to buy something new. People here are honest and they expect the same from us. We don't have a website or anything fancy like that. Just the board outside with the name on it. Most people know where we are anyway. It’s a quiet life.
