Mahalaxmi Watch is located at Gol Pyau in Naya Bazar. If you know the area, you know it’s a landmark spot where people gather. The shop has been around for a long time, and the walls are covered with different types of clocks. Some are round, some are square, and a few of them even make a bird sound every hour. I keep them all running, though they don’t always show the exact same time. It’s a bit of a joke with the regulars. Naya Bazar is a loud place with lots of trade going on. I sit behind the counter and watch the world go by through the front window. Most of my work is just routine. I change batteries, fix broken glass, and put on new bands. Sometimes an old man will bring in a pocket watch that belonged to his grandfather. Those are the hardest to fix because parts are impossible to find. I have to make things work with what I have. The shop gets quite hot in the summer, so I have a small fan that wobbles on the shelf. My family helps me out during the festival seasons when everyone wants to look their best and get their watches cleaned. It is a humble place, and we don't try to be anything else. We just want to make sure people know what time it is when they look at their wrists.
