Lalit Watch Service is located in Dargah Bazar, near Nala Bazar. It’s a crowded spot with many tourists and locals passing by every single minute. The shop is small and filled with the smell of old metal and oil. I’ve lived around here my whole life and started fixing watches because I liked how all the little parts fit together. Now, it’s just my job. I see many people who are visiting the Dargah, and sometimes they stop in because their watch pin broke or they need a quick adjustment. The street outside is always full of energy, with people selling flowers and incense. Inside the shop, it’s a bit different. It feels slower. I have a small wooden stool where I sit for hours. My back aches sometimes, but that is just part of it. I don’t use any big machines, just some tweezers and small screwdrivers that I’ve had for years. Sometimes a customer brings in a very expensive watch, and other times it is just a plastic one for a kid. I treat them both about the same. It takes patience to find out why a watch stopped moving. You have to listen to it and look closely. Usually, it’s just some dirt or a broken spring. I’ll keep sitting here in Dargah Bazar as long as people still have watches that need fixing. It is what I know and what I do.
