Hari Om Watch Service

Hari Om Watch Service sits right in the middle of Main Market in Nala Bazar. It is a very busy area, and the shop is usually crowded with people coming and going. I started working here a long time ago when I was much younger. The shop isn't very big, so we have to keep everything organized, though it still looks a bit messy with all the straps and tiny screws everywhere. I spend most of my day looking through a magnifying glass. My eyes get tired by the evening, but there is always another watch to look at. People from all over the neighborhood come by. Some want a new leather strap because theirs wore out in the heat. Others have watches that stopped working after they got caught in the rain. I just take them apart and see what’s wrong. It is nice when a watch starts ticking again after being silent. Nala Bazar is always noisy, and you can smell the food from the stalls nearby while you work. Sometimes the tea man brings a cup and we sit for five minutes before the next customer comes in. The floor is old tile and the walls need a new coat of paint, but it feels like home to me. We just keep doing what we know how to do, day after day. It’s a decent way to spend the time here in the market.
