The shop is right here on Daulat Bagh Station Road at F 4. Most mornings, I get here around nine to roll up the shutter. It’s usually a bit dusty because of the heavy traffic coming from the station, so the first thing is always a bit of cleaning with a rag. You can hear the trains if you listen closely, but the sound of motorcycles usually drowns it out. Arafat Telecom is just a small place, really. We’ve got the glass counters where we keep the phones and all the different types of chargers. Sometimes people come in just to ask for directions because of where we are located near the tracks. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I know most of the faces that pass by on a daily basis. We have some plastic stools for people to sit on while they wait for their mobile recharges or when they are looking at a new handset. The lighting inside is a bit bright, maybe even too much, but it helps when looking at the small parts inside a phone during a repair. My desk is tucked in the back corner where I keep all the screwdrivers and tools. There is a tea stall two doors down that brings over a small cup in the afternoon. It gets busy around five when people are heading home from work. We don't have any fancy signs, just the name printed outside. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we just have to wait it out. It is just a normal shop.
