Urk Biotech Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out in Karjat, specifically at Gat No 924 in Kuldhran. We are a farmer producer group, but do not let the name Biotech make you think we have a laboratory or anything fancy like that. We are just local farmers who are interested in finding better ways to grow our crops in the Ahmadnagar climate. It gets very hot here and the soil needs a lot of attention. We started this company to manage our harvests better and share what we know. We use the space at Kuldhran to store our stuff and meet up. Most of us have lived in this village our whole lives. We know which fields produce the best crops and which ones are a real struggle every year. The company is just a way for us to pool our resources. If one of us finds a better way to handle pests or improve the soil, we all talk about it. It is not very formal at all. We do not have meetings with agendas or minutes. We just talk about what is happening in the fields today. Marketing is something we are still trying to learn. We mostly focus on the growing part. Getting the produce to the right people at the right time is always the main goal. It is a lot of physical labor and very long hours. We don't have fancy office chairs, just a few stools and a lot of passion.
