Susangat Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Susangat Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is a group of women farmers located in Dusarbid, which is in the Deulgaon Raja area of Buldhana. We run things from Chaturabai S Khandare’s place. It’s a local effort, born out of the need for us women to have a bit more say in how our produce is handled and sold. Farming in Buldhana can be unpredictable, so having this collective gives us a bit of security. We aren't experts in business, but we know everything there is to know about our crops. We spend our mornings in the fields and our afternoons discussing how to move forward. There’s a lot of talk, a lot of tea, and a lot of hard work. We don’t have a fancy corporate structure. We are just sisters and neighbors working toward a common goal of making our farms more sustainable. Sometimes the paperwork feels like too much, but we help each other through it. Being in Dusarbid, everyone knows everyone, so we have to keep things honest and transparent. We just want to make sure the work we do in the sun all day actually results in something good for our families. It’s a simple life, focused on the soil and the seasons, and we are just trying to make it a bit better by standing together and working hard.
