Suregaonkar Farmers Producer Company Limited

We started Suregaonkar Farmers Producer Company Limited right here in Suregaontal, which is part of Kopargaon in the Ahmednagar district. Most of the time you can find us over at Shantaram Bhanudas Wabale’s place because that is where we keep our papers and meet up after the day is done. It isn’t a fancy office or anything like that, just a room where we sit down and talk about the crops and the prices we are seeing at the market. Some days are better than others. When the sun is high in Ahmednagar, it gets pretty hot out in the fields, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done early in the morning before it gets too bad. We have a few guys who handle the logistics while the rest of us stay focused on the dirt and the plants. It’s a lot of work, honestly. There is always something breaking or some paperwork that needs filing with the government, which none of us really like doing but it has to happen. We just wanted a way to work together instead of everyone doing their own thing separately. It makes sense when you think about it. We’ve known each other for years, growing up in these same villages and seeing the same rain clouds come through every season. We aren't trying to be some big corporation, just local folks trying to keep the farms going. Anyway, that’s mostly what we do here every day.
